PTTC Enhanced Prevention Learning Series (EPLS)

The Northwest Prevention Technology Transfer Center is rolling out four EPLS in the coming months: 1) Ethics in Prevention; 2) Applying the Social Development Strategy; 3) The Power of Coalitions, and 4) Leveraging Systems Change for Substance Misuse Prevention. What is an EPLS? Here are a few highlights:

  • An EPLS is a sequenced, synchronous online learning event commonly delivered over several weeks, to increase participants’ knowledge and skills on specific topics.
  • Participants log into a web-portal each week to obtain reading material or to view pre-recorded materials.
  • Participants join live web-based video-conference sessions with experts who facilitate discussion on the posted materials, provide opportunities to apply skills, receive feedback and share experiences.

This distance learning series is structured to provide online consultation, skill-based learning and practice, group and individual activities, reading assignments, and discussion on topics essential to application of an ethical decision-making process.

Delivered in weekly sessions from April 30 - May 21, 2019

Participants who complete the entire series will receive 7 continuing education hours. Space is Limited to 15.

National Prevention Week (NPW) is May 12-18, 2019

The NPW Prevention Challenge is an interactive social media activity that ties local prevention efforts to the larger efforts of National Prevention Week. This year's challenge is to describe in one-word what a #PreventionChampion is. This can be a person, activity, program, or organization that inspires others to take prevention actions every day that change lives and create healthier futures.

Share your #PreventionChampion on social media by May 31, 2019 and SAMHSA will add your post to the NPW Prevention Challenge digital mosaic and may feature it in a future NPW video.
