 2019 National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week - Jan. 22-27
National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week (NDAFW) is a health observance week for teens that aims to Shatter the Myths about drug and alcohol use. This year, NDAFW takes place on Tuesday, January 22nd to Sunday, January 27th.
NDAFW brings teens together with scientists and other experts to discuss drugs and alcohol use and their effects on the brain, body and behaviors. It gives teens the opportunity to ask questions and for experts to dispel myths about drugs and alcohol that teens get from the internet, TV, and friends.
NDAFW events include a National Drugs & Alcohol Chat Day on January 24, 2019. This is a live online event where high school students and NIDA scientists discuss drugs, alcohol, and addiction. There will also be a live National Drug & Alcohol IQ Challenge online on January 21, 2019. Teens are encouraged to study up and test their knowledge!

 Northwest Regional Conference
NAADAC and its Northwest affiliates are excited to announce the Northwest Regional Conference: Embracing the Future, a three-day conference from June 13 - June 15, 2019 at the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront in Portland OR. Earn up to 24 CEs.
The conference will feature three intensive days of training sessions with national trainers such as Carlo DiClemente, PhD, Cynthia Moreno Tuohy, BSW, NCAC II, CDC III, SAP and Mita Johnson, EdD, LPC, MAC, SAP.

Applications Being Accepted for New Intensive Technical Assistance Opportunity
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) Bringing Recovery Supports to Scale Technical Assistance Center Strategy (BRSS TACS) has announced the 2019 Capacity Building Opportunity, an intensive technical assistance (TA) opportunity for peer-run organizations, recovery community organizations, family-run organizations, and youth- and young adult-run organizations.
The 2019 BRSS TACS Capacity Building Opportunity will offer sustained, individualized consultation, training, and peer-to-peer support for up to 25 peer-run, recovery community, family-run, or youth and young adult-run organizations in one of the five designated focus areas:
- Partnering with State Systems to Advance Recovery
- Developing an Integrated Workforce
- Building Infrastructure and Organizational Capacity
- Sustaining Access to Treatment and Recovery in Educational Settings
- Supporting Reintegration
