Drug courts are one of the topics on the M-Files website, which is supported by the Northwest High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (NW-HIDTA). HIDTA provides assistance to Federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies located in areas determined to be critical drug-trafficking regions of the U.S. Its mission is to reduce demand for illicit drugs by promoting education, treatment, and prevention programs, and to improve collaboration with law enforcement and the justice system to end drug trafficking and drug-related violent crime. NW-HIDTA's prevention efforts include support for the ADAI Clearinghouse.
M-Files.org features short articles and links to resources on illegal drugs of abuse, criminal justice, prevention, and treatment. You can find recent national and statewide reports on drug trafficking and drug threats, such as:
2018 DEA National Drug Threat Assessment
Report from the national Drug Enforcement Administration provides a yearly assessment of the many challenges local communities face related to drug abuse and drug trafficking. Highlights in the report include usage and trafficking trends for drugs such as prescription drugs, heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, and the hundreds of synthetic drugs. Read the full 2018 report here and a summary of key findings here.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day
Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 10 AM - 2 PM.
Nationally, almost 80 percent of heroin users reported using prescription opioids prior to heroin. Getting rid of unused medication in the home is one of the most powerful ways to prevent problems associated with inappropriate medicine access (misuse, accidental poisoning, overdose, even suicide). In addition to disposal, locking medicines securely helps prevent children, teens, or adults from accessing medications that have not been prescribed to them.
Additional Take Back Day resources are located at https://takebackday.dea.gov/
Lastly, Take Back Day is EVERYDAY in King County! Permanent, secure medicine return locations may be found by visiting www.medicinereturn.org.
